040 Onset Knife – OD Green – Modern, sleek and tough, the 040 Onset is the upgrade your EDC collection needs. With an olive drab (OD Green) G10 handle this frame lock pocket knife provides security and strength when in use. Ball bearings and a blade flipper ensure smooth, one-hand opening, while a removable clip allows for easy carry. A full flat grind blade with Bos heat treated S45VN steel offers ultimate performance, finished with Cerakote coating, this knife is capable of handling your everyday. S45VN Steel CPM S45VN is a newer, martensitic stainless steel designed to offer improved corrosion and wear resistance over other leading steels. The CPM (Crucible Particle Metallurgy) process produces a very uniform, high quality steel defined by supreme stability, grindability and toughness compared to those produced by other melting practices. The chemical components in S45VN utilize Niobium and Nitrogen in place of some of the Vanadium and Carbon to provide an excellent combination of edge retention, wear resistance, corrosion resistance and toughness. These properties make it a solid choice for blades intended for heavy use, such as an everyday carry or work knife. Rc 59-61 Cerakote Coating Cerakote is a Polymer-Ceramic Composite coating that can be applied to metals, plastics, polymers and wood. The unique formulation used for Cerakote ceramic coating enhances a number of physical performance properties including abrasion/wear resistance, corrosion resistance, chemical resistance, impact strength, and hardness. Cerakote ceramic coatings utilize state-of-the-art technology to out-perform any competitive coating in both laboratory settings and real world applications. Ball Bearing Knife Technology Ball bearing knives are designed for smooth and efficient opening with a reduction in friction for rapid blade deployment. G10 An almost indestructible resin laminate that is resistant to heat, cold, chemicals, impact, and other abuse. These tough, durable qualities make G10 well suited for a knife that will get well used in extreme environments. Frame Lock A-frame lock functions like a liner lock, but the locking mechanism is a section of the handle “frame”-on the side of the knife. The “frame lock” is a channeled lock arm that moves inward to lock against the blade when the knife is opened. Pushing outward releases it from its “locked position” so the user can close the blade. The benefits are fewer moving parts and lighter weight. Frame locks are typically 1-hand open, and 1-hand close. Made in the USA At Buck, we are proud that this knife is made in the USA.
