843 Sprint Ops Knife – Carbon Fiber – Even the best-laid plans require quick reactions and adjustments to changing environments. This 843 Sprint Ops knife is ready when you are. A high-speed ball-bearing flipper makes for fast deployment. The reverse tanto blade shape gives the knife piercing strength while also giving you the smooth cutting surface of a drop point. The blade is S45VN steel tempered with Buck’s famous BOS heat-treat; the blade offers improved corrosion and wear resistance while maintaining a sharp edge through challenging tasks. The blade is Cerakote coated to provide further corrosion resistance and durability. The handle is a lightweight yet extremely strong, marbled carbon fiber. The knife includes a Cerakote coated, removable, deep carry pocket clip. S45VN Steel CPM S45VN is a newer, martensitic stainless steel designed to offer improved corrosion and wear resistance over other leading steels. The CPM (Crucible Particle Metallurgy) process produces a very uniform, high quality steel defined by supreme stability, grindability and toughness compared to those produced by other melting practices. The chemical components in S45VN utilize Niobium and Nitrogen in place of some of the Vanadium and Carbon to provide an excellent combination of edge retention, wear resistance, corrosion resistance and toughness. These properties make it a solid choice for blades intended for heavy use, such as an everyday carry or work knife. Rc 59-61 Ball Bearing Knife Technology Ball bearing knives are designed for smooth and efficient opening with a reduction in friction for rapid blade deployment. Cerakote Coating Cerakote is a Polymer-Ceramic Composite coating that can be applied to metals, plastics, polymers and wood. The unique formulation used for Cerakote ceramic coating enhances a number of physical performance properties including abrasion/wear resistance, corrosion resistance, chemical resistance, impact strength, and hardness. Cerakote ceramic coatings utilize state-of-the-art technology to out-perform any competitive coating in both laboratory settings and real-world applications. Carbon Fiber An extremely strong, lightweight material that is resistant to heat, cold, chemicals, impact, and other abuse. The high strength to low weight qualities makes carbon fiber well suited for knife handles. Liner Lock A Liner Lock is a folding knife that locks open via a tensioned metal liner inside the handle. Similar to a Lock back, opening the blade activates the lock. Unlocking is achieved by placing the thumb on the front part of the liner and pushing it to the left, which releases the blade. Liner locks are typically one hand open, one hand close. A blade thumb stud, flipper, or hole, enables one-hand opening. Flipper Knife A flipper knife opens by engaging the tab on the top of the knife with your index finger for rapid deployment. Made in the USA At Buck, we are proud that this knife is made in the USA.
